5 Things I Consumed Last Week (reset 👩🏾🔧)
on open-earedness, the bear, walking the world, love lines and is that not worth exploring?
Hello Nello!
I am back with your usual stack of 5 things to check out this week. These recommendations are not inter-related to each other at all but are wholesome on their own. Rather than thinking too much, I’d recommend you to pick one and spend some time with it. Introspect, apply, savour, reset!

How "Open-Eared" Are You? | The Art of Noticing
When was the last time someone recommended you a song and you replied back with your opininon after listening to it?
Most of my college days were spent asking people ‘hey, do you listen to this artist?’ and replies ranging from ‘whaaaat? you haven’t?’ or ‘you gotta check this song for sure’ or ‘I know right, he is the best’.
My music listening capability has definitely lost some sheen in the last couple of months and I am desperately looking to connect with more people who recommend new music. If you are one of them, please reach out :)
“When we stop actively listening to new or unfamiliar music,” McKenry writes, we cease making fresh music/pleasure connections.
In this newsletter issue, Rob talks about the transcendence that new music can bring into your life (the academic term for which is open-earedness) and cultivating music friendships. How open-eared are you?
Walking Hanoi | Chris Arnade Walks the World
I got this recommendation from my book swap event today. Thanks to my friend.
I have never read any travelogue and I always had this inhibition that I won’t like it even if I gave it a try but I am pleasantly surprised at how beautifully this is written.
This newsletter is written by photographer and writer Chris Arnade who talks about his project of walking across foreign cities certainly in an entertaining and picturesque way (quite literally).
No, it is not about ‘10 things to do in xx city’ but a detailed view on people, their culture, what the city has to offer etc. Deeply engaging, highly recommend!
Also, check out this cute series of art on Vietnam by Rong Pham.

Chef ✔️ Kitchen ✔️Food ✔️ New York ✔️
When a show ticks all these elements, I have to give up sleeping on my way to work and watch it until my eyes call it a day.
Thanks to
for this recommendation. I am just a few episodes in and I already love the vibe. More pressure on Netlfix, to launch another season of Chef’s Table.I can’t put it in better words than The Guardian, so I will just leverage Internet here.
The intensity of a commercial kitchen, from its prepping deadlines to the screaming rush of lunch hour, and the need for everyone to know their job and cleave tightly to their duties is exhaustively and exhaustingly captured.
This is a show that has been meticulously prepped, simmered, reduced, balanced and eventually plated up to perfection by the creator Christopher Storer and co-showrunner Joanna Calo. Dig in.

Best Part by Daniel Caesar | Love Lines
Until I find new friends who recommended music, I have found this newsletter which talks about songs, metaphors within lyrics, artists and everything related to music.
If song reviews is something that intrigues you, this newsletter is for you. Freudian is certianly one of my fav. albums of all time.
The effortless splendor of Caesar’s voice is a distinctive sound to behold. His 2017 debut studio album, Freudian is a masterpiece. It is a masterclass in building anticipation and releasing its pressure. This is one of those rare albums with no skips. You aren’t compelled to cut a single track from the rotation.
A small concert for you to spend a slow evening.
That’s all for this time folks! See you next week.
