5 Things I Consumed Last Week (kindred spirits š©šæāš¾)
on San Luis, with an E, emotional education, copulations and the search for Kimchi
Hello Nello!
Apologies for the late issue, I was travelling over the weekend (more deets and visual tour in the next issue) and didnāt find much time to dip my toes in the world of content - only the ocean :)
This issue is like a warm soup - things which are close to my heart and things which will make you say āawwwwā. I hope you fancy them as much as I do, after all as readers we are all kindred spirits, arenāt we?!

The Travel Ritual Song - San Luis
Do you have a song you keep listening to in loop when you travel? A song that calms your nerves and keeps you grounded. For me, itās San Luis by Gregory Alan Isakov.
The way this track builds with layered guitar/vocals/harmonies into the second verse with drums and bass kicking in is just pure ear candy. The album is called Evening Machines because Gregory has a little studio set up in the barn where he would go and play/record after work. Listen to this as a part of your day end cool down ritual.
The Cozy Feel-Good Show - Anne with an E
Ā Anne with an EĀ presents love in all its formsāin friendships, in school crushes, in same sex relationships, in family life, across social classes, and last but not least, in unrequited love. While maintaining its whimsical and lighthearted moments, it also explores the complex themes of racism, class difference and misogyny. I have never been so dazzled by beautiful scenery, costume design, and a narrative that makes you feel that you have really been let into another world.
I watched it many years ago but I havenāt found any other series that gives me the same feeling, an adaptation likeĀ Anne with an EĀ is a rare find.
Friend, Philosopher, Guide - The School of Life
I am sure algorithm gods might have graced you with School of Life by Alaine de Botton videos in your feed. I have gone through them through most of the difficult times in my life, just to emotionally educate myself.
Of late, I havenāt really watched many videos, until today, when I stumbled on it from Popovaās newsletter. If you are keen on learning about behavioral patterns of partners in a relationship and what perpetuates it, you should watch this video.
We havenāt found a winning way to keep admitting just how much reassurance we need.
Instead of requesting reassurance endearingly and laying out our longing with charm, we have tendencies to mask our needs beneath some tricky behaviors guaranteed to frustrate our ultimate aims.
Not many people are aware about his goldmine of a blog on the same lines. Check it out.
The Beach Song - Copulations by Peter Cat Recording Co.
One of the most exciting things about being a music lover is discovering a fantastic band youād never heard before. Stumbling upon Peter Cat Recording Company (PCRC) in 2019 made me wonder how many artists may have slipped through the cracks. I was pleasantly taken aback when I first heard these gawky dudes from New Delhi, India in Portrait of a Time and then there was no going back. I was lucky to listen to them playing live this year in Mumbai.
One of my favorites from them is Copulations which features an uncharacteristically playful mood, brimming with wistful guitar riffs and dreamlike soundscape.

The disclaimer should prompt you to watch the video, no spoilers. (wink wink)
The Animation Darling - The Pudding
The Puddingās post updates is one such mail in my inbox that I canāt simply avoid. A website that makes data fun with lots of animation, interactive games, humour and art. Where else do you find such a deadly combination?!
The search for my kimchi is an interactive narrative game, it might make you laugh and sob at the same time. It has been over 6 years since I moved out from my home. The days when I miss home the most are usually linked to a nostalgic memory of food - my mom in the kitchen and my brother and I lingering around her.
This narrative is all about that - the warmth of food and the warmth of loved ones.
Thatās all for this time folks!
See you next week šāāļø
