This Friday I came home early in the evening to make up for the long nights at work (read almost morning) with a sudden urge to Netflix and thatās when the āBeefā binge watch began. It emanated from all those ārecommendation community sort-ofā pages that I follow on Instagram and save a gazillion posts only to never look at them later.
One review and the mention of Ali Wong - thatās all it took for me to start binging. (she is hilarious, trust me and watch this)
I love how Mashable describes Beef:
Like the vivid paintings that open each of its episodes, Beef is a large canvas of two people with the not-so pleasant details of their lives excruciatingly enclosing around them ā creating a stunning portrait of the cost of empathy and a story that'll linger with you.
Itās funny, itās harrowing, and itās exceptionally original in portraying two damaged people who find their mirror selves in a random parking lot dust-up.
After some dips on mundane resentment towards life, comes a thrusting wave of malicious mind games, bashing and lots of āfuck youā. Watch yourself.
Amy and Danny both utter some version of āItās always fucking somethingā when faced with one of the daily inconveniences that embody for them lifeās inherent unfairness. Beef makes a lot of something out of what, to most people, would be nothing. Beef is making an intentional point: Our society isnāt set up to accept unhappiness but rather to ignore it, obfuscate it, cast it out ā an ouroboros of disregard that threatens to consume all who dare to ask of life, āIs this all there is?ā ~The Vulture
I am yet to finish the whole series and I just paused for a while to give you the update on ordinary Netflix trending series that I found intriguing enough to share.
Otherwise life has been ordinary, except for my new jam:
Of all calamities, it's a great one
Breaking myself down, breaking myself down a bit too much
I'm eroding, I'm eroding my sense of pride
Crossroading, at a crossroad in my own life
(the title is from these lyrics, scroll up)
Also, pleasantly surprised to see Richard Dawkins on Substack. I havenāt really read anything from him after I read The God Delusion.
In other news, I am very proud of my screen time last week.
And also, this platter I made for a game night at home (ā_ā) (those peanut butter and chilli roasted baby corn were definitely a hit)
More to come next week when I come out of my binging phase.
Happy binging!
